Window flower box

The flowers are finally planted in the window flower box! We are looking forward to the Oriental Lilies blooming!

Deck steps

We'll eventually build a deck but I wanted to build  a set of steps from our morning room into our back yard.  I was determined to do this task myself and after a little research, a lot of time at Lowe's (with Kelley even going back to get the correct set of brackets) and a lot of measuring, they're installed!

Lamp post

I won't go into the whole story but our lamp post was not installed before our concrete.  I started noticing other newer builds having their lamp posts installed and still no lamp post for us.  Boo, well it finally got installed and it looks great.

Furnace filters

I have to say the whole subject of finding replacement furnace filters has been very frustrating! I went to Lowe's and bought a very nice, 12 month, Filtrete Allergen 16" x25" x 4" replacement filter.  I brought it home and it didn't fit.  So, I looked at the original filter and looked at the measurements a little more closely.  Why in the world, do they have 16" x 25" x 4" on the filter when those are not the correct measurements! The correct ones are 15 3/8 x 24 3/8" x 3 3/4" and yes those do make a difference in a filter fitting! So, I went to return the Filtrete filter to Lowe's and went to the Home Depot and same story there.  I finally decided just to check AAF's website and their web store didn't even carry the filter.  I then decided to email AAF and they said the nearest AAF rep was in Columbus.  I then turned to Google and found a company here in Dayton, BDI, that was willing to special order the filters for me at a very good price.  FYI, these filters come in a case of 6.

Grass

It was a joyous occasion to get our sod installed!

And the water begins.

The bunk bed

Yes.  Faith's bunk bed.  Let's just say the bottom base just didn't want to fit up our stairs.  Well, until my friend, Kurt, an engineer, came over and helped me disassemble the base and put it back together.  Faith and all of us are forever grateful!

Faith loves her bunkbed!

Blinds with my brother

Uncle David (my brother) flew in from Everett, WA just to help us put up some blinds. Well, he came to help move his father-in-law but we snagged him to help us!

Kara loves her Uncle David, mostly because they're both monkeys!

Finished!

So, it's been a good 3 months since we've been moved in and I've already failed as a blogger!

Here are the pics I took right before we moved in...

Yes, that's our elf-on-the-shlef, Crystal Snowflake, making an appearance to welcome our girls to the  house!
